The Administration really expects me to believe that Jose Padilla is as dangerous as Magneto or Hannibal Lecter? I just don't buy it.
If he is the monster they say he is, he should long ago have been given his due process, swiftly convicted of whatever horrors he is guilty of, and left to rot in obscure meaninglessness in some SuperMax federal dungeon.
I thought what differentiated us from the terrorists was that we conform to the rule of law, and due process weeds the bad guys out of civil society.
Is this what people mean when they say we are fighting a "different kind of war," and that we have to employ "new methods" to defeat the terrorists?
